Biodiesel for Maine:
“Biodiesel for Maine” (BFM) was a collaborative effort of the Chewonki Foundation, the Maine Energy Investment Corporation, Frontier Energy, the Biodiesel Development Project, and the Environmental/Energy Technology Council.  Funding came from the Maine State Energy Program of the Maine Public Utilities Commission and the U.S. Department of Energy. Its goal was to promote the use of biodiesel in Maine.  BFM's marine outreach was funded by the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment.

    Chewonki Renewable Hydrogen Project:
The Chewonki Renewable Hydrogen Project was a demonstration project designed to help bring Maine and the world closer to a healthy, sustainable environment by accelerating the deployment of renewable energy systems using hydrogen generation, storage, and fuel cell technology.
The project consisted of three major components:
    (1) The design, installation and operation of a hydrogen energy system fueled by renewable energy, which provides four days backup power for critical activities at Chewonki’s Center for Environmental Education. (2) An extensive public outreach program that included on-site displays, the expansion of Chewonki’s existing Sustainable Energy Education Tour and several brochures and workshop outlined to introduce general audiences to hydrogen energy systems. (3) A technical and business support program for Maine’s renewable energy industry to embrace hydrogen technologies.

    Clean Energy Maine:
“Clean Energy Maine” was a statewide campaign to introduce Mainers to clean electricity choices. Sponsored jointly by the Maine State Energy Program (MSEP) and the Maine Energy Investment Corporation (MEIC), Clean Energy Maine began in September 2004 and continued through fall 2006.  The objective was to support clean electricity options available in Maine through outreach and education.

    Maine Green Power Connection:
The "Maine Green Power Connection" (MeGPC) built interest in, and drove market support for, environmentally beneficial electricity products by educating consumers and supporting green power suppliers.

    Solar for Maine Builders:
    "
Solar for Maine Builders" (SMB) was a workshop-driven project geared toward Maine's building community. 90-minute-long workshops, divided into two sections, were provided free to building professionals interested in learning more about "green building" design and solar technologies. The workshops offered an overview of sustainable building design - including LEED, Net Zero Energy homes, and Energy Star Homes - and explained why it makes sense to integrate "green" features into buildings for new home buyers.
With the help of our partners, Hancock Lumber, Ellsworth Building Supply, the HomeBuilders and Remodelers Assoc. of Maine, and Midcoast Builders Alliance; a total of XXX SMB workshops were executed in the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

    Solar for Maine Congregations:
"Solar for Maine Congregations" (SMC) was a project geared toward educating Maine religious communities about the possibilities of energy savings through changes to building infrastructure and implementation of solar technologies. The project consisted of a site assessment and follow-up, 2-part workshop; thus providing congregations with information and recommendations tailored to them. The on-site energy assessments took into account current energy useage, passive solar design, and potential for energy saving measures. Specific recommendations were made in corresponding workshops.
