| Solar Mini Grants
In 2007, MEIC provided grant awards of up to $3,000 to nonprofits and small business to help with the purchase of photovoltaic systems. Past Solar "Mini" grant awardees are shown below.
Maple Hill Farm B&B
Maple Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast, located in Hallowell, ME recieved a Solar Mini Grant assisting them in the installation of a 202-tube solar hot water system and a 15 kilowatt solar electric array. The combined installation is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by 40,000 pounds.
Capital Village
A project of Augusta developer Tim Gooch, Capital Village is an affordable housing project consisting of 30 family-apartment units. Capital Village is one of two new housing developments in the state using solar power to reduce energy costs for its inhabitants. The system is an 8.16 kW DC system and is expected to provide approximately 12,600 kilowatt hours of power a year and save an estimated 13,237 pounds of carbon dioxide.
The development was made possible by MaineHousing and a $3000 Solar MiniGrant from the Maine Energy Investment Corporation (MEIC).
Now, thanks to Ascendant Energy and Fat Spaniel, you can track Capital Villages' actual solar output.
